It is possible to evaluate the impact of antioxidants with the so called ORAC-Value.

The method of determining the ORAC-value was introduced in 2005 in the USA. The ORAC-value (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) determines the antioxidant capacity of natural products. In summary, the higher the ORAC value, the more powerful the antioxidant value of the product.

Why do we need Antioxidants?

In our body arise permanently free radicals. These damage those parts in our cells that are important for their inner working. For example, our DNA and RNA. Antioxidants can eliminate the free radicals and therefore protect the body cells from damages.

What is an Antioxidant?

An antioxidant is a chemical combination that specifically prevents an undesired oxidation of other substances. Due to their working as a free radical scavenger, antioxidants are essential for our body. This is because they deactivate in our bodies reactive oxygen species which, if in excess, can lead to the so-called oxidative stress. This situation is related to the aging process and the occurrence of various diseases.
